For a fixture, turn the small valve under it clockwise. For the whole house, find the main shutoff, usually at the front of the house near the hose bib or in the ground near the street at the meter, and turn it clockwise until it stops.
If water is near outlets or appliances, shut that circuit off at the breaker. Do not stand in water to do it.
Do not use switches or anything that sparks. Call the gas utility from outside, then call us.
Worth doing before you ever need it: find your main water shutoff and make sure it turns. A seized valve is the difference between a wet floor and a flooded house.

Are you really available 24/7?
Yes. Emergency service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, residential and commercial. Scheduled non-emergency service runs 7am to 5pm, Monday through Sunday.
What counts as a plumbing emergency?
If it is flooding, leaking, smoking, or smells like gas, it qualifies. Burst pipes, major leaks, sewer backups, gas leaks, water heater failures and total loss of water are all emergencies.
Where is my main water shutoff?
In most Bay Area homes it is on the front exterior wall near a hose bib, in the garage, or in a covered box in the ground near the meter. Turn it clockwise to close. If you cannot find it, call us and we will talk you through it.
I smell gas. What should I do?
Leave the building immediately. Do not use light switches, phones or anything that could spark. Once you are outside and away, call your gas utility, then call us at (408) 545-8808 for the repair.
Do you charge more for after-hours calls?
Emergency service is priced differently from scheduled work, and you will be told the price before any work begins. No surprise numbers on the invoice.
